Machine learning with beauty and care.

Home

Our lab is situated in the Department of Statistics and Actuarial Science at Simon Fraser University (SFU). We collaborate with the Wellcome Centre For Integrative Neuroimaging at the Nuffield Department of Clinical Neuroscience, and with the Mathematics, Genomics, Prediction, and Evolution (MAGPIE) group at SFU. Our research covers a range of topics including machine learning, brain imaging genetics, population genetics, Bayesian nonparametrics, decision trees, phylogenetics, bioinformatics, artificial intelligence, deep learning, and procedural generation for games and art. We also research the epidemiology and host genetics of SARS   -  CoV   -  2, working with Canada’s HostSeq project and the MAGPIE group. Dr. Lloyd Elliott is a Michael Smith Health Research BC Scholar.

Our research is funded by the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC), and Genome BC, and the Canadian Statistical Sciences Institute/Institut canadien des sciences statistiques (CANSSI), and SickKids. Our events have received support from the Office of the Vice-President, Research at SFU, and the Department of Statistics and Actuarial Science at SFU, and the Pacific Institute for the Mathematical Sciences (PIMS), and CANSSI.
